Nashville 2020

After not being able to travel for a significant amount of time I had decided enough was enough and I booked a quick trip to Nashville. This was a great trip that I met a lot of great people and had the opportunity to listen to a lot of great music. Below I will recount my experience to share with you to maybe inspire your next visit to Nashville.

After a quick flight from Kansas City, I landed directly in Nashville, Tennessee. A short Uber ride later I arrived at the place I would be staying at. This was my first time experiencing a hostel, But I decided to stay at the Downtown Nashville Hostel. This location was built in the 1880’s as a warehouse. Check in was quick and simple. I was given some linens for the bed and got settled in. That afternoon I went out to get a bit to eat. There is a small local feeling bar that was actually in the basement of the hostel. Enjoyed a few local beers at the Beer Cellar. Nashville is a great town to walk around and just enjoy one place to another. The following day I made my way to check out the Ryman Auditorium which is something every music lover should be able to experience once at least in their life. For lunch I stopped by Roberts Western World to try the Recession Special. This gave me a fried Bologna Sandwich, A can of beer, a bag of chips and a Moon Pie all for $6.00. This was a great quick lunch to have. While eating the band played some tunes and got to relax. In the evening I went to Jack Bar-B-Que for dinner. If you are in Nashville this is a fantastic place to stop and have a bite to eat. For Smoked Sausage, Brisket and a few sides it was less than $20.00 with two beers. For a great rooftop bar that I found to be a lot of fun I would recommend spending some time at the three story Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk. There is always a great band playing on any floor. The downside this was during Covid so there was several restrictions in place. There was no dancing allowed and you had to be seated at any of the venues. It was also odd that you had to wear a mask in the streets as well. But this kept everyone safe during my visit. The following day I would spend the first half of the day just marveling at everything the Country Music Hall of Fame had to offer. I spent my last night in music city just going from different venue to different venue. The next morning I would spend my day flying back to Kansas City.
